A Lifetime Love of
Painting
Cindy Stevens
grew up in Connecticut, and has lived in Clinton, with her
husband Gary, for 30 years. She has 2 children, and comes from
a family of artists. Her mom, Shirley Price, was a pen and ink
artist, and her brother and sister both paint professionally.
Cindy has owned and operated Snow’s Block Frame Gallery in her
home for 19 years.
Cindy’s had an
affinity for art and creative projects through the years while
raising children: she painted play sets for the local theatre
group and taught after school art at a few schools in Clinton.
She studied watercolor painting with Lou Bonamarte for a number
of years. She discovered her love of oil painting a little
later in life, after trying a plein aire workshop in Maine with
her sister. She’s been doing Stan Moeller’s painting workshops
on Monhegan Island in Maine for a few years.
Cindy has an
impressionistic style. She enjoys playing with color and
expressing her own interpretation of the subject. She generally
paints landscapes, especially involving water and rocks, and
loves to paint plein aire. Painting on location allows her to
capture light effects and represent intensity of color in a
fresh way. She can lose herself in the painting process and
focus without distractions from real life.”
