ETHEL BACON

Author Ethel Bacon loves the outdoors. She was a musher herself, and it really shows in her book,
To See the Moon
. In this story, a young girl named Diane is determined that her puppy Kimo - the smallest and weakest in the sled dog litter - will grow strong and participate in the one-dog race twelve months away. Month by month, the story follows the two as they train for a race that beats the odds.

READERS & EATERS NEWS:
Killingworth Library was "the place to be" Tuesday night when local author, Leslie Bulion joined our READERS + EATERS book discussion group.  Getting to ask all those 'behind the scenes' questions that we wonder about when we read a book was a real treat and Leslie didn't disappoint the 5th,6th, and 7th graders that came to meet her.

Mark your calendars for another Leslie Bulion visit, July 16th, as part of our Summer Reading Program - CATCH THE READING BUG - when we switch from 'Uncharted Waters' to 'Hey There, Stink Bug'.

Move over Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley, and Mat Hoffman. All those athletes, Hollywood stars, and hip-hop artists boasting about their love of reading on READ posters aren't the only ones seen with a book in their hands these days. Make way for a group of local kids that love to READ too!
Recently, middle school students from both the Killingworth Library and the Brainerd Library in Haddam met to have a photo shoot session, as a first step in getting their faces (along with their favorite book) on larger-than-life posters. Be sure to look for these new "celebrities" hanging on the walls @ your library!
